As I am sure you are all well aware, PDHPE is one of the six learning strands in the NSW Primary Curriculum. It is a subject that is just as important as English and Math, and is a subject that supports students in the development of their whole self. PDHPE covers important and realistic topics that contribute to every student’s future, with it encouraging students to make informed decisions about physical activity, as well as develop a positive attitude toward living a healthy lifestyle. From K-6, a variety of programs and experiences are implemented, to assist students in getting the most out of the subject. Programs include; - participation in regular and varied physical education experiences & - systematic and explicit teaching of personal and social skills to give students a basis for resilience and the resourceful management of their own life In short, PDHPE in the primary context focuses on the following; - physical, social, cognitive and emotional growth and development patterns - the development and maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships - factors influencing personal health choices - living and learning in a safe, secure environment - the adoption of an active lifestyle - fundamental movement patterns and coordinated actions of the body - skills that enable action for better health and movement outcomes [if !supportLineBreakNewLine]
